Climate change due to human activity

Répartition de l'ozone au dessus du continent asiatique

Climatic change caused by human activities may result in a move from the Holocene area in which human civilisations  developed, to a new area , the Anthropocene, which is characterized by a major and persisting impact of human activities on climate.

The "Anthropocene" project federates researchers and engineers from the "Climate" and "Biogeochemical cycles" thematics who are involved in development and use of the Earth system integrated model of the IPSL.

Main challenge is to study the impact of climatic changes on biosphere and biogeochemical cycles, but also the feedbacks of induced variations on climate.

Researches are conducted in close connection with other research teams of the IPSL.  LSCE strongly focus on interactions and feedbacks between the different components of the Earth system, on climate change mechanisms, and on extreme climatic events.
