Detecting signals of land-climate interactions from global observations

The increasing availability of surface and satellite observations of land properties is opening new avenues for the detection and interpretation of ongoing changes in the land-climate system.

The presentation will report on current activities performed at JRC to assess the biophysical and biogeochemical interactions between land and climate, based on satellite retrievals of land properties and global observations of terrestrial carbon fluxes.

Ramdane Alkama works in the land-climate interactions group at JRC and deals with the integration on Earth system observations and modeling in order to investigate emerging issues in global change ecology and biogeochemistry of terrestrial systems.
