| The LSCE/IPSL is seeking a full-time *Information Technology Engineer* | | to participate with a team of scientists and data experts in analyzing results from Earth System Models. The project will focus on the ocean components of these models, which are being compared within the framework of an international initiative funded through the EU EPOCA project (European Project on Ocean Acidification).
Results from four of these models are already available in a common archive. The candidate will participate in a collaborative team effort to:
- transform this archive into the latest IPCC standard format,
- distribute model output via the IPCC distribution point in Paris (IPSL),
- automate standard model analyses,
- construct tools to facilitate new analyses,
- incorporate new model output as it becomes available, and
- teach others how to use this new distribution-analysis system.
Experience required:
- University degree in computer science or related subject
- Excellent programming skills
- Good communication skills
Desirable working knowledge of 7 or more of the following:
- Unix shell (bash)
- Programming languages (python, java, C++)
- Dynamic Website (PHP, javascript, HTML, CSS, XML)
- Databases (SQL)
- NetCDF file format
Salary will be commensurate with experience as assessed on the French CEA scale. Funding is available for two years, with a possibility of extension. The position will remain open until filled, but applications received before 28 February will receive best consideration. The LSCE is located in the suburbs of Paris, at the CEA in Saclay.
