A new cold room

A new cold room

It was expected to arrive with the first samples of Beyond Epica, but it took a little longer than expected, and we’re not out of the woods yet. But it’s beautiful, big, and very cold. You guessed it, I’m talking about the new cold room installed in the basement of 701.

Currently, it still lacks an alarm and a security device, so we can’t store anything in it and freeze to death without anyone noticing (but dying in front of our guru Grant Raisbeck, we could hardly ask for better, right?), but when we see that now we have to wait months to install a hot water tank, we consider ourselves lucky that it was built and is functional despite a few leaks and uneven surfaces…

And to top it all off, a local street artist took a liking to it and began creating an evolving and timeless work of art, which he hopes will become a new place of pilgrimage and inspiration for future generations.

The immense joy of our student Beyond Epica as she discovers the cold chamber where she will spend long hours advancing science and helping to save the climate and the world.
