* Objectif de recherche :
-Appliquer la datation absolue des roches et minéraux volcaniques par les méthodes potassium-argon (40K-40Ar) et argon-argon (40Ar/39Ar) à :
-la calibration et la synchronisation des échelles de temps,
– l’étude chronologique des variations du champ magnétique terrestre,
-la chronologie des évènements éruptifs (âges, durées d’édification et de destruction des appareils volcaniques).
-retrouver mes clés
* Objet de recherche: Laves, téphra et minéraux volcaniques.

– Méthode :
Notre méthode de datation repose sur le principe du chronomètre radioactif 40K-40Ar.
-outils :
Mesures par spectrométrie de masse la composition isotopique en argon des échantillons. Pour réaliser cela, nous avons :
-1 Laboratoire de préparation des échantillons comprenant un poste de sciage, broyage, tamisage
– 1 Laboratoire de tris minéralogiques pour isoler les phases à dater.
– 1 Laboratoire d’extraction et de purification des gaz occlus dans la roche.
– 1 Laboratoire de spectrométrie de masse, comprenant deux spectromètres de masse dédié à la datation 4 40Ar/39Ar.
