Carbone 14 measurement

LMC14 – ARTEMIS national instrument

The Laboratoire de Mesure du Carbone-14 (LMC-14) carries out carbon-14 measurements for the national scientific community. Five organisations – CEA, CNRS, IRD (Institut de recherche pour le développement), IRSN (Institut de radioprotection et de sûreté nucléaire) and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication – have pooled their resources to equip the laboratory with preparation benches and a mass spectrometer coupled to the ARTEMIS accelerator. The platform has been in operation since 2003. It is responsible for the technical aspects of dating (physico-chemical preparation of samples and measurements) and for measuring samples from other preparation laboratories, such as the LSCE, IDES-Paris/Sud, Le Louvre, Claude Bernard/Lyon, etc.

ECHoMICADAS – 14C Dating Laboratory

The ECHoMICADAS – 14C Dating Research Laboratory brings together state-of-the-art equipment, mainly used for research projects led by geochronologists who ensure its day-to-day operation. While its primary purpose is to support research projects, this facility is also open to external collaboration and service provision.

Since the first measurements were taken, the expertise of researchers and the quality of instruments have been made available to support your projects, whether academic or otherwise.
