CELESTE Lab

Presentation

CELESTE Lab is an international research project from CNRS (referred to as ‘IRP’ standing for “International Research Project“). It investigates the impact of climate and land use change on soil and water resources in the so-called Southern Cone Region, located in Southern Brazil, Uruguay and Northeastern Argentina, and which is understudied compared to other regions of the South-American continent such as the Amazon.

CELESTE Lab, which stands for “impaCt of climatE and Land usE change on Soil and waTer rEsources” is coordinated by LSCE, in France, and the Federal University of Santa Maria, in Brazil. Other partners are also involved in France (French Geological Survey – BRGM) et in Brazil (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS), along with research teams from Uruguay and Argentina.
