GAMEchange is an ERC project that aims to integrate the state of the art in our understanding of rapid genetic evolution in soil microbes into land surface models. It draws on evolutionary theory, mathematical models, global genomic data, and machine learning approaches. The goal of GAMEchange is to develop the first land surface model that incorporates Darwinian evolution—a fundamental biological process—in order to assess its impact on the carbon cycle.
