ICPMS_Neptune+

Presentation

The ICPMS_Neptune+ technical platform enables high-precision characterization of the stable, radiogenic or radioactive isotopic systems of numerous chemical elements from the Periodic Table present in natural archives (water, carbonates, apatites, sediments, soils, rocks, etc.). This technical platform is part of the “Spectrométrie TIMS, MC-ICPMS & LA-ICPMS” instrument network of the RéGEF research infrastructure, and is integrated into the PANOPLY platform shared by LSCE and GEOPS.

The main fields of application are geochronology (U-Th dating), marine geochemistry and paleoceanography (isotopes of Pa, Th, U, Ra, Nd), the study of the carbon cycle in the ocean and the impact of ocean acidification (isotopes of B, Th, Si), the tracing of natural & anthropogenic sources, applications in archaeology or the isotopic characterization of volcanic or sedimentary rocks (isotopes of Nd, Sr, Pb or even Cu, Zn, Fe).
