Paris climate targets: a precise mapping of inequalities and levers for action in the Paris region

Can we really keep the climate promises made in Paris? A team of scientists from CEA, the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne and CNRS, provide a nuanced answer in a study published in the journal Nature Urban Sustainability. Using an innovative modeling tool, they have mapped with great precision the CO₂ emissions of the Paris metropolis – and the efforts needed to meet climate targets. While those for 2030 are within reach, the research team reveals that CO₂ emission reduction targets for 2050 would require a significant strengthening of current measures.
