Presentation
The Weather Discussion is a weekly activity dedicated to discussing recent weather and climate events and forecasting for the following days, generally with an overview of Europe and a more detailed look at France. It is held every Thursday at 1:30 PM in a room at LSCE and online on Zoom and it lasts 30 minutes. The event is open to everyone for both assisting or participating in the discussion. Our goal is to share some interesting information about meteorology, share knowledge about the atmosphere with colleagues with different specializations and interests, and ultimately provide an occasion for an informal get-together and discussion each week.
The first part of each discussion is usually dedicated to a hindcast, where the team analyzes one or more recent weather events from a meteorological perspective, or sometimes summarizes the recent state of the climate. While the focus is primarily on Europe, significant global events are also addressed. The second part is dedicated to forecasting, with an emphasis on France and Europe, with occasional or periodical extensions, for example to the tropical regions during cyclone season.
