RiOMar

Presentation

Funded by the “Ocean & Climate” Priority Research Programme, the RiOMar project has several strings to its bow: modelling, observation and consultation with coastal environment managers. These 3 areas together form the core of the resources deployed by RiOMar to answer the two questions driving the project:

  • What is the future of vulnerable ocean environments at river mouths under the pressures of human activity and climate in the 21st century?
  • Can we propose scientific solutions to improve the state and functioning of ecosystems, in collaboration with environmental managers?

These issues will be addressed through modelling work covering the current period and extending to the end of the 21st century, coupled with the development of observation networks at sea and joint work between fundamental research and environmental management.
