Robin Noyelle, a former LSCE PhD student, was awarded the Thesis prize by the French National Committee for Geodesy and Geophysics:

Robin Noyelle for his thesis entitled “Aspects statistiques et dynamiques des vagues de chaleur extrêmes dans les moyennes latitudes” (“Statistical and dynamic aspects of extreme heat waves in mid-latitudes”), prepared at Université Paris Saclay and defended on June 18, 2024.

His thesis focuses on the statistical and dynamic aspects of extreme heat waves in mid-latitudes. Its originality lies in combining innovative physical and statistical approaches to answer important questions concerning extreme and very extreme heat events, which have a major impact on human societies and ecosystems.

Under the auspices of the French Academy of Sciences (A.d.S.), the Comité National Français de Géodésie et Géophysique (C.N.F.G.G.) ensures French participation in the activities of the Union Géodésique et Géophysique Internationale (U.G.G.I.), one of the twenty unions of the International Council of Scientific Unions (I.S.C.).

The CNFGG encourages, undertakes and coordinates studies and research relating to geodesy and geophysics. It provides expert advice and makes recommendations on all matters falling within its remit.
