Presentation
PIREN-Seine is a research consortium whose aim is to develop a comprehensive understanding of how the system comprising the Seine river network, its catchment area and the human society living in the basin functions.
The ecological functioning of the entire river system and its modelling, from bacteria to fish, are based on a detailed study of the physical, chemical and biological processes within these environments.
Led by Sorbonne University and the CNRS, it brings together teams from several universities, research centres (including the LSCE), engineering schools, and the research departments of the relevant operators. The work is carried out in collaboration with most of the public and private stakeholders involved in water management in the Seine-Normandy basin.
