Research thematics

The main aims of the Geochronology-Tracer-Archaeometry (GEOTRAC) team are to place the key events in the history of the Earth and the evolution of mankind in an absolute chronological framework and to constrain the geochemical processes governing our current and past environment.

Reveal the dynamics of the history of the Earth and mankind within an absolute chronological framework

Understand the geochemical processes that govern our past and present environment in the oceans and continents

Understanding the carbon cycle in soils, rivers and oceans in relation to climate and/or human impact

Study past variations in continental climate on time scales ranging from one year to one thousand years

Using urban geological archives (sediments and carbonates) to understand today’s society and its impacts
