Carbon 14 dating: The wax bust of Flora is not by Leonardo da Vinci
Researchers from the LSCE/LMC14 (CEA-CNRS-UVSQ) and the Institut de recherche de Chimie Paris (CNRS-Chimie ParisTech-C2RMF) have settled a long-standing controversy: the wax bust of Flora kept in the Bode Museum in Berlin is later than the Renaissance. To achieve this, they conducted a rigorous investigation, combining chemical analyses and carbon-14 measurements, and succeeded in meeting the challenge of dating an extract of a marine animal, whalebone (or spermaceti) .... etc..
